I love the way these shoes look! Unfortunately, they are not built to last. Velcro is coming off the boots making it difficult to fasten and one of the shoes has already come loose from the sole in the sock area (I had to super glue it). Ironically I don't let my daughter wear these shoes to play so they are mostly worn to school and have not held up very well. I would order again to try them out as I love the look again and they complemented multiple outfits so much.

They are very beautiful and my little girl loved them so much that she refused to wear anything else, even wore them to sleep! The sole is heavy and has really good grip. At the same time, they are made of vinyl (which explains the mentioned "chemical smell", which is not chemical at all, but the usual smell of vinyl).
