6 AWG for a 50A extension cord.

I don't know how they sell 8 AWG cords with 50 amp plugs. Every code I've seen calls for 6 AWG wire for 50 amps. I know most modern hobbyist welders never draw 50 amps, but my 200 amp 3-in-1 welder can draw 47 amps in stick mode. An 8 AWG extension in a 50 amp circuit is probably not a good idea either. I'm just saying.

Pros
  • Extension cord
Cons
  • New competitors appeared
