Great but a bit small.

The quality is excellent but the landing is small. I ordered a medium and expected the fit to be the same as other military BDU hats. It is less. Order up to.

Pros
  • It's too big for me, but a small one would be too small. I simply glued some terry cloth strips into the band.
Cons
  • May not be as comfortable as other types of hats or headgear.

MILSPEC quality in my rating.

This BDU patrol cap is MILSPEC compliant and pairs well with BDU uniforms. I use them for civilian air patrol uniforms and find them acceptable. The price is cheap, which is important.

Pros
  • The shorter beak makes it easier to use scopes on my rifles. This hat is very comfortable and looks well made.
Cons
  • Size XL was small, I gave it to an 8 year old and it fit well. Differs at least a size or two, very cheaply made.

lack of quality control

The headband doesn't close with the back, but that's not a problem as nobody can see it. The hat band does not close at the back either. That can be a problem, but luckily my name tape hides the error. The manufacturer clearly lacks quality control.

much loved hat of another brand

Husband loves the hat. He replaced a worn out popular hat from another brand, but in fact he likes this hat more than the previous one. He'll wear it for years, I'm sure.

The hat fits quite well, but the material is very loose

The hat fits pretty well but very loose material, I was in the military and they don't look like a military patrol hat at all. I don't like the hat at all.

First failure at the right clothes

I have worn Propper uniforms, shirts, trousers and hats for many years. I've been very happy with everything so far! This cap (Green Model OD) is NOT a replica of the BDU Patrol Cap and is in no way an exact replica of the old PC "Ranger". The BDU cover foil is missing. The strip looks like a curved piece of a hat, and not around the entire perimeter.

  • Excellent fit, with enough extra room to shrink in the wash

  • May not be suitable for those with sensitive scalps or other grooming issues.

The lightweight fabric and slightly odd shape didn't suit my ACU computer as much as I would like.

I wear a 7 1/8" - 7 1/4" and it was more for me. The lightweight fabric and slightly odd shape didn't suit my ACU computer as much as I would like. Decent product, just not for me.

Not the same as military style BDU caps.

I'm used to the BDU hats I can find at military stores that have an inner layer and an outer layer to hold the shape of the hat as the inner layer is lightweight smaller than the outer ply layer, creating a rigid structure (does not round at the top fillet of the cylinder). Also, most military grade BDU hats are made from 50% poly, 50% cotton, and ripstop poly. These are single ply cotton. They should fit most people, but if you're looking for military-style BDU hats, keep looking.

Not bad, but not great either.

Patrol Cap is appropriate for its role. It looks great from the outside and definitely doesn't lack craftsmanship. It looks more like props for movies or for ceremonial purposes than field uniforms. The cover I received was made in the Dominican Republic, which makes me doubt the slogan "PROPPER: a battle proven brand". a little bit to see that the actual patrol caps issued to US military personnel are made by SEKRI Industries which are based in Kentucky. Odd Sizing

I usually wear a baseball cap but when I'm at shooting competitions sometimes the fields get in my way. I wanted a shorter brimmed cap so I took a closer look at this one. Short story: good quality, odd size.
