Before I purchased this mattress protector I was waking up in a pool of my own sweat daily, I suspected it had to do with the mattress protector that sounded like a plastic bag, and I was right. This one is incredibly soft, does not make any plastic bag sounds and I wake up fresh every morning. It’s very easy to take out for washing and the zip goes all around it nicely.

26 June 2019 UPDATE:My 17 pound dog threw up on edge of my bed. The protector did pretty well, but there was leakage at the seam. Luckily, I was awake so I immediately jumped up and stripped the bed. I went online to see best method to clean the stain and it DID come out. Don’t think there is a true waterproof protector, unless you use the nasty vinyl, but at least there is SOME protection. I ordered this for a 12" thick foam mattress. It fit perfectly. I'm not sure I didn't have a couple more inches of mattress. I love how streamlined the zipper is, plus the velcro at the end of the zipper.
