My husband and I drink both red and white wine. It's good to have a decanter specifically for white wine. This carafe has a functional and beautiful design. It looks great on my glass shelf in my built-in closets. The design also seems to help the glass decanter carbonate the white wine. It is slightly concave at the bottom and does not lie flat. Very nice decanter from Villeroy & Boch. This Purismo white wine carafe is great for easy pouring and storing in the fridge or on ice. Compared to my huge red wine aerator decanter, it seemed almost small to me. But it easily holds a 750 ml bottle. It's easy to pour and its slim shape makes it easy to hold and pour. You can't tell from Revain's description, but this decanter is much wider in one dimension than the other. Measurements: 6-1/4" side to side, 4" front to back and 10-7/8" tall without lid, 11-1/4" with lid. The base, body and neck have an oval cross section, the top is round. It's an elegant shape, although not what I expected. There are even seams on each side. The lid is not tight. Mine has a small but fairly noticeable bubble. Very nice carafe. Villeroy & Boch always produces products with unusual yet tasteful shapes and this decanter is no exception. It does say it's dishwasher safe, but to be honest I'm too nervous to put it in the dishwasher. But that's my problem. But it gives you an idea of how beautiful it looks.
