This meter is a compact handheld radiometer, Uses imported UV photosensitive devices, Comes with an integrated UVC filter, Has good cutoff characteristics. The instrument has an LCD that can display the value of UVC irradiance. When the lamp's output drops to 70% of original readings, please replace it. Simply press and hold the push-button switch on the face of the unit. Aim the sensor window in the top panel of the meter directly at the UV source. Note reading on LCD and record if desired. Great UVC Meter

Can it be improved with things like backlit display, battery level indicator, strap, smaller size etc.? Well, to be honest yes, but for a cheap counter this is the best. The measurements are reproduced by my laboratory measuring device. It seems to me that accurate and repeatable readings are all most users want, and this product fits that bill perfectly. I can't buy anywhere better.

Great for checking counterfeit UV lamps

Bought because I needed something other than a several hundred dollar lab instrument to test counterfeit UV lamps. As others have pointed out, this is a push button on/off switch, not a momentary button like some reviews have claimed, and it works pretty much as you would expect. I don't have a lab quality UVC meter to compare to some reviewers, but as a backup I held it in direct sunlight with a UV index of 8 (UVA + UVB from a calibrated sensor) and got a reading of zero, so actually it…

only needs to be read by holding the button down and viewing under a UVC light source. I have this for testing UVC germicidal lamps. This ON-OFF switch design was a mistake for the UVC tester. UV radiation is dangerous for skin and eyes. UV goggles can help your eyes, but this device requires you to constantly hold the off button to take measurements and read them instantly under UV light.
