LEDs are good, but energy intensive! They eat batteries like crazy. The remote works, but only if you are within a few feet of the lights and have near line of sight to them. Forget about standing indoors to turn the lights on or off outside.

I've been looking for a suitable lighting solution for a couple of outdoor plastic gourds I've had for years for a few days and have settled on this one. Each puck requires 3 AAA batteries, although I can't comment on battery life, I will say you can choose between 4, 6 and 8 hours of use each day. I've put them each in a small ziplock pouch to keep them out of the water while they're out.

We like that they're bright, give off a yellowish light, that they have a remote control with a timer function, and that they're not very tall so the light itself isn't usually visible through the jack-o-lantern's cutouts. We're not entirely familiar with the timer function as we haven't had it that long, but we gave it enough thought when we first bought it to buy more. They come without batteries and require 3 AAA, but that seems reasonable to get that much light and ease of use.

I don't like lighting candles and then forgetting to blow them out (mostly laziness) etc. This light makes it SO easy , to press the button and get a realistic candle effect. The light is a little bigger than I expected but still fits well in my little pumpkin. There are 4 lights in the center that pulse from high to low to give the appearance of flickering. The range, from far to bright, I found about 6 feet indoors and almost straight. But really, even if I had to go outside, I wouldn't care.
