Bent after less than 1000 miles

Not sure if I got a bad one or not but I towed about 10,000 pounds for about 800 miles and when I got the pen pulled out to remove the clutch, the pin was bent. It will go in the trash.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Durable and reliable.

This locking pin configuration feels solid and reliable. Chrome plating must be durable. I liked the locking mechanism on ball bearings and not on other devices where the thickness of the pin is limited by a notch or slot. We bought a longer unit to fit the truck bed.

Pros
  • Rugged Construction
Cons
  • Contact Seller

Easy to install and remove.

From now on I will only buy these. Easy to remove and install. Others I bought required three hands to remove or install. I like that you don't need a key to install it. Just stick it on and you're done. I hated the one I had before. So now I have to buy two more to replace the others I have.

Fits well bad product

fits my class 4 hitch great and originally meets all advertised specs. Fast forward, just a month later, I decided to remove it from the side using the key to unlock but not loosen the ball bearings. Tried to fill wd40 but to no avail. If you tapped the outside with a hammer to try to loosen the bearings, the entire key assembly would fall to the ground. Either I got the lemon or this product needs serious work.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • not as thick as other products

Reese Towpower 7070700 Dogbone Receiver Lock (Pro Grade V)

Bought for towing with a 2 1/2" square receiver. Not stainless steel, but still one of the finest products available to protect your gear with a patented, long life ball bearing locking mechanism that maintains a constant shaft diameter throughout the length of the lock. Other vendors have a tapered shank that creates a weak point exploited by thieves using the tube to break off the end of the lock.

Pros
  • Easy to Use
Cons
  • Crumpled

Bad design, collapsed

Looks solid but design flaws. If you look closely at the picture you can see a small pin on the side of the obturator. This pin is all that holds the lock together. It is pressed down the barrel and into a lightly drilled hole on the inside. Mine actually came off and the whole lock inside came out when I opened it the second time. You don't need to cut it. Just a slide hammer screwed into the groove cracks everything in seconds. To return.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Easy maintainability

Solid and wide. Finnish key.

The push button latch provides a sure click when latched and a visual indication of latch status. The key is a little awkward to insert and use, especially when the tow hitch is very far under the car. The great length of the bolt allows me to use the hitch pin at the same time as the locking cable. The locking mechanism needs to be lubricated from time to time. The chrome finish is premium and durable. My previous one survived 8 years of service with a weekly clutch removal. I bought this for…

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • boring packaging
