We have an old Craftsman 16 gallon vacuum that still works despite all the troubles. We carefully monitor the cleanliness of the filter and replace it if necessary. That's probably why it still works so well. They fit perfectly and are inexpensive.

My only criticism is the plastic nut that holds the filter. The old one was screwed onto the shaft and wouldn't let the filter fall out. They are screwed onto the filter and sit frictionally on a threaded shaft. They can be removed if you try. I can only borrow problems because they haven't fallen off yet.

Filters are decent but paper is brittle after wetting them them after lifting. The supplied plastic nuts are 100% unusable. They are threadless and will not hold the filter in place if dirt builds up in the filter. The weight of the filter, even when new, goes down if you lower the vacuum too far. In this case, there is a risk of dirt being sucked into the engine. RESERVE YOUR OLD NUTS and toss the ones in this set straight in the trash.
