CNC Spindle Temperature Sensor

I need to monitor the temperature of my water cooled CNC spindle. They're expensive to change, so I don't want to run them in the heat. I bent the brass mount slightly and attached it to the spindle surface. Works like a champ!

Pros
  • Clamps for 3/4" or 1" pipe
Cons
  • I will add later

Works as advertised. there is accuracy. Close.

I use this in a water underfloor heating for the rear (cold) side. I already have a combination temp and pressure gauge on the hot side, but it's nice to use to see the return water temp. This gives a good idea of the temperature drop in the loops. It's a little loose on the 3/4 inch pipe with the long spring they send, but you can shorten it and it holds up pretty well. If you install it in a place with vibration, you should consider sticking it on the pipe. instead of this. Accuracy. close. I

Pros
  • For use on boiler lines, water heaters or other process lines where it would be useful to check the approximate surface temperature.
Cons
  • Can't remember

Inexpensive, easy to assemble, works reasonably well

This is an inexpensive analog thermometer that attaches to a water pipe. Inlet and outlet pipes of a water heater. The one at the entrance is mainly for curiosity. I often look at the one on the exhaust pipe to compare heater settings and monitor performance. There was nothing to indicate accuracy, so my working guess is +/- one division (5°F) of the displayed value. One day I pull out my DMM and Type-K thermocouple and take some measurements. But I don't expect much of a difference due to the…

Pros
  • Glass lens will not yellow over time

  • Available in black only
