I liked that he covered the white plastic and made the whole light a little bigger to hide the imperfections of the tile it was set into. It looks like gray plastic, not brushed metal. The shine or metallic look you see in the picture is misleading IMO.

I have 4 of these to hide some led lights. I don't normally mind white LED light, but in one room I had a unique situation where the ceiling was actually a pine groove. You install via Halo LEDs in less than a minute per light. Once installed on the ceiling, you don't even realize that they mostly cover the white rings.
