Description of Roland V 1HD HD Video Switcher

4 HDMI Inputs: The V-1HD has 4 HDMI input connectors compatible with a variety of equipment. The V-1HD supports 1080p/1080i/720p video resolutions. Devices outputting the same resolution can be input regardless of what type of device they are. Both progressive and interlace signals can be input allowing for both 1080i and 1080p signals to be used at the same time. Professional Switching: The V-1HD has large back-lit buttons for intuitive video switching even in low light conditions. The V-1HD even lets you know which inputs have sources connected by illuminating the buttons of the inputs with connected sources. The V-1HD features broadcast style Preview/Program switching for professional results. Effects: Compositing two videos in one screen using Picture in Picture or the split function is ideal for seminars and presentations. The V-1HD also supports chroma key and luminance key which ideal for creating professional looking broadcasts using green screen backgrounds or for overlaying computer generated titles on top of video sources. Audio Mixing: Included is a 12 channel digital audio mixer. The V-1HD can mix 4 stereo audio inputs from the HDMI ports, the stereo line level input and a mic level input. Every channel is equipped with a delay function to synchronize the video and the audio. Audio follow function enables the audio to transition along with the video. Menu and Settings: The on-screen menu display appears on the preview screen and is easy to operate with hardware controls. Making adjustments to parameters and operating the audio mixer can be made by simple operation of the buttons and the T-Fader on the unit.

Terrible repair experience with switcher Warranty

I spoke to Roland for 3 days to get this switcher fixed. He's only a month old. I started the process 3 days ago and still haven't received an RA#. I have provided the requested information via email and have not yet received a reply. All technical support or repair calls go straight to voicemail. It seems like a great little switch, but be aware that if it ever needed a factory overhaul it would be a slow-motion nightmare.

Superb unit - 1 lack of scaling (unlikely, important)

Great deal for the price. Great interface, easy/quick setup. fps sources involved in your setup, the resolution on that channel drops significantly from 1080 to pixel garbage. Attaching a scaling device like a decimator to the line solved the problem for me, but this solution doesn't come cheap if you don't have one. Most cameras today can run at 59.94 progressive scan so this issue may never affect you, but if you're hoping to save some money by using something like an old DSLR that can't…

Exceeds my expectations

This switcher exceeds my expectations. I am very happy that it has a built in scaler so it accepts different inputs without any adjustments. In most cases I have four (4) camcorders connected via one HDMI source, and in some cases where I want to overlay the bottom third or title over the video I have three (3) camcorders and a Samsung laptop connected. I'm switching from camcorder to live camcorder and recording live events through Atomos Ninja Flame, I usually set the HDMI output to 1080p on…

Wish it had more inputs

I really wish it would always let the full signal through when on. It seems that you need to turn on all sources and output devices (projectors in this case) before turning on the switch, otherwise you sometimes get a yellow image instead of full color. Turning it off and back on when everything else is on seems to fix the issue. I've found it's important to ensure all sources output the same signal type. We chose 720P as one of our inputs is limited to it. You also need to go into the menu to…

This V-1HD switcher is very compact but surprisingly heavy for its size

This V-1HD switcher is very compact but surprisingly heavy for its size. It's HDCP compliant and so far has worked great with two MacBook Pros, a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and an iPad connected to it. I currently only have 2 items on my wish list for him. I wish it had built in still storage - it can freeze all inputs which is great but I would like to be able to store at least 1 or 2 frames. Also, I'd like the transition toggle keys to behave like a simple TAKE toggle instead of remembering…

Finally Converting Worship Services to HD Quality

I've just started playing around with this switcher and trying to explore all of its little possibilities. I misunderstood the possibilities of MIDI. It won't work like I thought it would with our old MIDI lighting technique. Everything else about this switch works exactly as expected. $995 is a great price. I'll probably swap my old Edirol mixer for this new Roland after the holidays. That should save us 6 inputs on the sound card and make the picture on the projectors cleaner. Update 2017-05:

Amazing compact Full HD mixer

For a long time I wanted a Full HD mixer but all of them were too expensive. Finally Roland put this gem together at a great price and it does everything I need. I get crystal clear video and it has a very good range of features and effects. I used to have a V-4EX which was good but it wasn't internal full HD (480p only) and before that it had an SD mixer. It's a huge improvement over those mixers and I would definitely recommend it over the V-4EX or something SD. I mainly use it for weekly…
