Center shaft was cut off center

unit could have been of value to me but the center screw was off center rendering the unit unusable I quickly received a unit and sent it back for the same problem the next unit was better than the first , but still off-center and awkward to use. send it back too.

Pros
  • Fan motors
Cons
  • Expensive

Not required for fan motors

The problem is that it presses against the shaft you are trying to remove making it tighter than without. I drilled through the center of the shaft with a regular old 1/8 bit, then with a 3/16 twist bit, and the fan slid right off the shaft. I could also tap the fan, apply some wd40 and clean it with a piece of mechanical cloth and then gently remove it.

Pros
  • Electric
Cons
  • Only available in white

Good, but needs some improvement.

I like this idea but it could be improved. The set screws have flat ends which causes the device to slip from time to time. If they had a ridged surface or a point, the purchase would be much more durable. This is kind of a bear to tune into. Especially for little fans. Other than that it's a good product and I love having it in my tool arsenal. I've used it many times and only had problems with very small fans.

Pros
  • Electric motors
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
