As a decoration, this item is great! Unfortunately, I bought it for both the look and the functionality. Nuts are very difficult to crack. We stopped using it because it is annoying to use. You're better off using a regular hand-held nutcracker if that's what you want. But sitting on the counter is very nice.

I bought this squirrel nutcracker for my husband as a gift. Not only does he enjoy it, but it has given my granddaughters many fun experiences with their grandfather. The squirrel is actually holding the nut and is able to break it open. It's also a great display and conversation piece. Anyone who loves nuts will love this nut protein.
