Description of RVGUARD 3 Prong 15 Amp to 30 Amp RV Adapter Plug with Locking Connector - L5-30R 125V Electrical Converter Plug Green

NEMA 5-15P male plug to NEMA L5-30R female plug. Allows you to leave heavy power cord stowed between trips to plug into regular house current. Run an extension cord instead of dragging out the large cord and finding a 30 or 50 amp outlet. Designed for hooking up to a portable generator and do simple works. Straight-style adapter to be used in place of dogbone adapter cord, easy to use compact design.

Works great but there must be some kind of cable lock.

This seems to work fine, but on my motorhome the plug is attached to the bottom of the camp bed. This adapter is fixed inside the motorhome but the extension to this adapter is not fixed by anything - so can easily come out. A simple solution would be to simply mold a couple of eyes or holes in the body of the adapter - something to thread a zip tie through, allowing the zip ties to hold the extension and adapter together. Ideally there would be two holes on opposite sides of the adapter. I…

Pros
  • Straight adapter for use in place of the dogbone adapter cable, easy to use compact design.
Cons
  • A few little things

I have to do what I want!

I bought this adapter so I could easily plug it into a 15A socket with a standard extension cord while my motorhome is in 'winter storage' mode. This allows me to turn on the lights and basic power tools when I need to work in the RV without unplugging the 30 amp "automatic" power cord, as well as an extra power strip and adapter to access the power outlet in the shed. Its function is to connect to a portable generator and in an ideal world (when I get the generator) it will be used for that…

Pros
  • Use an extension cord instead of pulling on a large cord and looking for a 30 or 50 amp outlet.
Cons
  • Some bugs

Ground Pin Care

This short adapter seems like a better (more compact) approach than an alternative cable with separate male and female ends. However, this is our second adapter because the ground pin on the 120 volt side of the first adapter broke after a few years of heavy use. We "store" this adapter separately from the 120 volt power strip we normally use (we prefer the 120 volt power strip over the 30/50 amp alternatives for flexibility - general ease of use) and plug in the adapter therefore every day on…

Pros
  • NEMA 5-15P Male to NEMA L5-30R Female
