Need a wide toe

These are great shoes except the toe box is too tight. I wear Altras as it's the only wide toe shoe. If Salomon lengthens the toe box I would recommend it in the future.

Pros
  • Continuous
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with specific foot conditions or arch needs.

Get them when you walk/hike on ice or on ice!

I bought these for my wife (one size smaller than men's size according to Solomon and they fit) after using my own pair on steep trails near my home in the mountains where the snow gets hard in shady areas ice compacted. This isn't everywhere on the trails but creates "impassable" sections. These shoes have amazing traction in icy areas that are downright dangerous in a regular running or training shoe. And they work great on the rest of the trail, namely mud, rocks, mud, etc.

Pros
  • Love it!
Cons
  • The shoe's heavy weight can affect performance and reduce speed when running over rough terrain.

These shoes are not

These shoes are not sneakers at all. They feel extremely stiff and heavy and have complete control over your run. The heel to toe drop is too high and intrusive, despite the drop being only 10mm. I have other shoes with a 10mm drop, but I don't feel this drastic drop. These shoes are more like hiking boots. If you are looking for hiking shoes, this could be a good choice. True to size, they are of excellent quality, look stylish and have excellent road holding on snow and ice.

Pros
  • Great product to keep going in the winter
Cons
  • Only available in one color option, limiting consumer style choices.

Ideal for beach and trail running

This is the only running shoe I've ever found for sand or beach running. Absolutely no sand gets into the shoes. The outsole also had the added benefit of running on wet trails. They are very comfortable and well made which makes them worth the price.

Pros
  • Excellent Traction: The Salomon Unisex SPIKECROSS 5 Gore-TEX Trail Running Shoes offer exceptional traction with an aggressive outsole featuring 9 carbide-tipped studs. This ensures that you can tackle any terrain with confidence, regardless of the weather conditions.
Cons
  • Gore-TEX material can make shoes uncomfortable in hot weather or during high-intensity workouts.

Great shoes for serious outdoor enthusiasts!

I love Spikecross for serious trail running and hiking with my boys. Expensive but you get what you pay for! This is my sixth pair of SALOMONS, the best trail running shoes on the market. This has saved me from several nasty falls on steep slopes.

Pros
  • The Gore-Tex membrane used in these running shoes ensures that your feet stay dry and comfortable no matter how wet the conditions get. Plus, the shoes let air in and out, keeping your feet cool and dry even during your most strenuous activities.
Cons
  • Limited sizing options may not be suitable for those with larger or smaller shoes.

I am happy. Really waterproof!

I bought them because I live on a farm and love running in a meadow that is often covered with water. Either from the morning dew, or the last rain, or something else. They keep my socks from getting wet. I still like her.

Pros
  • Great shoes. Make running on a frozen lake fun. Stay warm and dry with regular thickness Smart Wool Socks.
Cons
  • Ugly and uncomfortable shoes. I sent them back and didn't get half of what I paid for. Very bad customer service.
