Non Waterproof - Lighting and Electrical

Installed this tachometer about 3 months ago. Was working fine until last weekend. Took the boat out and found there was moisture in the lens and the sensor stopped working. It's definitely not waterproof. The assembly instructions were crazy too.

Buy another brand

Looks very nice but didn't work right out of the box. I tried all the instructions in a foreign language and it's not entirely clear how to do the installation cut off and put on a new one so it's not worth the money

Works great with existing total station wiring without a transducer!

Easy to install and works great without buying the recommended sensor. It works but sometimes freezes until I crank it up and then crashes. I think I need the sensor as it is currently connected to an existing setup of the original tach.

Tap SLOW! I could blow up the engine 4 seconds before the needle jams! Really 4 seconds!

I installed this and found I could rev the engine and the needle was very sluggish. So I took it off and put it on a bench and used arbitrary waveform generation to drive it and simulated a spinning motor; Imagine my surprise that at a full scale deviation from 0 to 8000 rpm the needle responded to the change in 4 seconds! 4 seconds! My conclusion is that this is for a very sluggish engine where the tachometer doesn't matter. Do not buy for heavy duty applications.
