I didn't make it Electronics and Gadgets

The constant hunt for magnetic north. When he "found” the North, he was clearly wrong. Cannot rely on this product underwater.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model

We searched for compasses

Product worked as it should while snorkeling. This brought us back to our entry point during our shore dive. I haven't used the retractable feature, but I tried it once, I'd rather keep it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Doubtful

Not Working - Electronics and Devices

I used it once for a fairly shallow dive, only about 20 feet deep. The next day it wasn't working even when I made sure there weren't any other magnetic materials nearby. Don't buy this compass... I'll return mine

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Fits

Do not buy. You can get lost underwater. Doesn't always point north.

Never in my life have I seen a compass point pointing north all the time. Even a $2 kid's compass can point north. I'm glad I played with it before going on our dive. Do not buy. There is no place under the ocean for unreliable technology to operate. Can put your life in danger.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Almost never

Fairly accurate, ideal for underwater navigation.

Purchased during an advanced open water scuba diving course. On one of our dives we had to use a compass to find a standard pattern and this compass was able to guide us and get us back to 3ft from our original position. The dial rotates in 5 degree increments, and for the price it was a pretty handy tool.

Pros
  • Outstanding Overall Achievement
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Difficult to read. on Electronics & Gadgets

This is nothing compared to the Suunto S8 compass. Degrees are very difficult to read. The dial in the window is too short. You almost have to hold it over your head to see it. I will say that the retractable cord works very well and appears to be of good quality. If it weren't for the reading difficulties, I would have given him good grades. But since reading the compass is the main purpose, I really can't give it a good overview.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Fair

Not suitable for outdoor sports and leisure accessories

I bought this to use AOW and underwater navigation. During the AOW on land the compass had trouble pointing north. Tilting more than a few degrees above level will freeze the compass map. filmed underwater and the compass map didn't move due to the pressure on the compass. I wouldn't spend your money on that. I learned it the hard way - buy a good compass.

Pros
  • Total length: 7 inches (folded), 31.5 inches (unpacked)
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Good but not the best compass on the market

I am a diving instructor. I have been using an earlier version of this product for 5 years. I like the price and the fact that it's light and compact. I also love how I can buckle my buoyancy compensator; pull it out when i need it; and release it and retract it safely into my BC when you're done with it. Eventually the stainless steel wore out and broke. What I don't like is that the bearing is almost impossible to read through the side window without flipping it up and this prevents it from…

Pros
  • Retractor attached to compass
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
