very good shave and hair removal

I really like this little brush. I use it to lather my face and I find its knot size perfect for that. My hair started to split after a few shaves and after a few weeks everything was split and very soft. After getting this, I froth up the bowl a lot less often. You can lather your palms the first few times your face is too sensitive for a new brush, but that probably won't be a problem for most. I lost very little hair, a mark of quality.

Pros
  • Incredible value and quality at an affordable price!
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Small but nice!

This is my first boar bristle brush. Bought 1438 because I was a facial cleanser. I love the brush! Beautiful, nostalgic look. The brush broke in quickly (half a dozen shaves). However, please note: This is a small brush. In my limited experience, this means you have to work a little harder/longer to create the desired amount of foam. I then bought a Semogue 2000 and preferred this knot size, density and grip. Now I've switched to lathering in a bowl, since a larger brush is more suitable. Both

Pros
  • Knot diameter: 22mm
Cons
  • Useless features

Better than my best badger.

When I first started shaving with a conventional safety razor a year ago, I figured a more expensive badger brush would be a better option. I bought a good mid-range Badger for about $40 and it has worked great for creams and bowl foam. When I discovered bar soap and facial foam, I knew I needed something more thorough. I've browsed sites like Badger and Blade and read a lot of good things about Semogue. This very inexpensive boar brush is fantastic! It's tough enough to grind hard soap, but…

Pros
  • Handmade in Portugal.
Cons
  • socket required.
