I bought this device because it allows you to use any headphones you already have. I use it to listen to some TV shows without making them so loud that my wife has to wear headphones. I feed it from my HiFi amp connected to the TV. It works very well and gives me independent volume control. With open headphones or simple in-ear headphones, the latency is very low.
