Description of Shoei CW-1 Pinlock Shield (Dark)

The all-new CW-1 shield is both wider and taller than the CX-IV that it replaces. In addition, the CW-1 shield protects SHOEI riders from 99% of the sun's damaging UVA and UVB rays, and the three-dimensional injection-molding process ensures distortion free vision. Another advantage of the CW-1 shield is its ability to work in conjunction with SHOEI's optional Pinlock® system to deliver fog-free vision in even the most challenging conditions. The new CW-1 Pinlock lens is larger, and offers fog-free viewing to the very top of the helmet's larger eye port.Replacement Shoei CW-1 Pinlock® ready face shield for the Shoei RF-1100, Qwest, and X-Twelve helmets. The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved. Not for RF1200 on motorcycles and power sports

Product and packaging well. Looks great but I have an RF1200 and didn't read the description first. It is not suitable for RF1200.

Pros
  • Helmet accessories
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

I like the visor and the pin lock

I like the visor and the pin lock. I'm confused by the quality control on them. My first purchase of this visor had dark pin lock pins, this one has clear ones (not pictured) and they are very visible.

Pros
  • Protective gear
Cons
  • Without performance

fogging. Here is the pin lock

I like the smoky color. Works well on dark days. Maybe some light for really bright days. The only thing that confuses me is that it fogs up very easily for a pinlock. So it's really not worth the extra money for a standard shield.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Requires socket

Don't forget the Pinlock insert.

Perfect for my Qwest. I just wish they made a version of the transitions for my helmet so I didn't have to buy that one and the clear one. The shield itself is ok - nothing special compared to the standard shield except for the pins. So you'll also need to get a pinlock insert to prevent fogging. However, if you do, it will be a game changer.

Cons
  • Vulgarity

Blacked Out Qwest: Motorcycle & Powersports

I bought this shield for my matte black Shoei Qwest shoes to add fog protection, protect my eyes from the sun and look cool. Fits perfectly, no adjustment required to create an airtight seal (the instructions included say this may be necessary) and no tools required to swap out the screen. The shade is dark enough to replace my (correct) sunglasses most of the time, but I still use both when the sun is low and it's perfect. I haven't used the PIN lock feature yet, but I have a custom…
