I'm trying to build a shop vacuum system using 2-1/2" hose and fittings. I bought these couplers thinking they would work with this system. The hose is 2-1/2" OD and these couplings are also 2-1/2" OD so they cannot mate. If you buy these couplings to fit a 2-1/2". -To connect hose, C, gate or anything else, DO NOT BUY THEM!These couplings are the same size as the hose and other fittings.

I have several vacuum hoses, some of which are actually "vacuum cleaner" brands. This connection set only works with original industrial vacuum cleaner hoses. My other hoses don't fit properly. I didn't expect this problem because I already had two old "vacuum cleaner" couplers that fit all of my hoses. These new connectors do not taper as much as the old connectors. These fittings will not work with the standard cone that came with my shop vacuum. However, they fit the hose set I bought for my shop vacuum. They also come to an end that comes with the shop vacuum cleaner itself. I suspect they are made to attach the hose set to the original vacuum hose to lengthen it so you can use your original cone end with the attachments. I had a coupler in my kit so didn't really need them. Don't buy them expecting them to attach your vacuum hose to anything unless you
