Yes, you can use it to record videos longer than 29:59!

DSLRs and mirrorless cameras from Canon, Nikon and Sony can record video up to 29:59. Although you can restart recording immediately, it can be cumbersome to do it manually when the camera is on the other side of the church, for example, to capture a wedding. Shutterboss is your answer! On my Canon R5, I set the Shutterboss exposure time to 30 minutes and 0 seconds in 1 second intervals. This resulted in a loss of about 48 frames (29.997 fps) - about 1.5 seconds every 30 minutes. This can be…

Pros
  • take photos without shake | Ideal for time-lapse photography | Powered by two AAA batteries
Cons
  • boring packaging

This product worked for the first few months. It then started acting strange and would trip up from time to time. Then it worked again for some time lapse. I noticed that I lost a few frames in the frame. Then, after testing again, I found that the intervalometer only works intermittently and is not reliable. I lost some strings on a trip to Canada and one day it just stopped working for me. Manual trigger, intervalometer - both just don't work anymore. The device failed 2 years after purchase.

Pros
  • For Canon EOS 3-pin digital SLR | Wired remote control | Shutdown and reset options
Cons
  • Expensive

Not recommended for mission critical applications

This is a cheaper 3rd party version of the Canon TC-80N3. I've been using this with my 5D Mark IV for a few months. Although this camera has an intervalometer built in, such a device adds several features. In particular, you can set an exposure over 30 seconds and also set a delay before the first exposure. Both are very important for astrophotography, which is what I primarily use them for; This allows you to use mirror lockup with a two-second delay before exposure to allow the camera to…

Pros
  • Includes: 2 AAA alkaline batteries, User manual, 1 year limited manufacturer's warranty
Cons
  • Slightly torn
