Faulty water pump ruined my engine

Based on our own experience, this automotive replacement part was a complete disaster. We installed it as per the instructions and within a week, it malfunctioned and led to serious damage to our engine. The only pro is that it looks sturdy and durable, but unfortunately, its performance is far from it. We couldn't find any benefits in this product and would not recommend it to anyone.

Pros
  • Durable brass construction ensures long-lasting use and reliability.
Cons
  • Requires regular maintenance to prevent build-up and extend lifespan.

Shaft leak after one year

Scrap. A year ago I installed one of these on my 8.1. I noticed a small leak this spring that escalated and splattered rusty water everywhere. The shaft seal is complete nonsense. The other engine still has the original MERC water pump from 13 years ago, which is not leaking. Just ordered a MERC water pump housing with impeller for a hundred dollars more. The extra cost is worth it.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Almost never

I have a twin 496 and I bought 4 of them.

I have a Twin 496 and have bought 4 Sierra pumps in the last 2 years. Two of the four were defective when I received them and I sent them back. The last time I got stuck with a $23 return postage was when I sent it back to Speedom Sports. Don't mess with these people. Calls to support service are not answered, calls are not answered. The third pump only worked for a year and a half before leaking the shaft. Do yourself a favor and buy a Merc pump. These pumps are garbage!

Pros
  • Beautifully packaged
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
