This privacy screen works as advertised and yes it lets my laptop sleep with the lid closed. The only reason I rated this 4 stars out of 5 overall (and 4 out of 5 for value) is because the bottom of the screen is loose and the corners dangle and fly off the bottom corners of the screen. I have used other standard privacy filters but I LOVE this one. The convenience of turning it on and off at any time and choosing between matte or glossy sides is great. I only set the brightness to 4 because like all privacy screens the brightness is reduced, but for privacy screens this is just as good as the others. I actually have a 3M screen too and my simple home tests for brightness and viewing angles are about the same.

Buy Adhesive Type Instead, this particular design relies on a thin magnetic strip on the top of the privacy screen and doesn't stick very well. I tried to contact the seller but got no response so I issued a refund. It is very easy to put on! One thing that worries me a bit is how the magnets are at the top of the screen. Because of this, the bottom edges protrude a bit, which isn't a cause for concern.
