Very sharp, a little yaw in focus and manual focus by cord

Probably the sharpest lens I have, works well in both crop and full frame modes. Autofocus can be a bit sluggish even with the limiter on and sometimes freezes. I would give it 5 stars were it not for the focus-by-wire system which makes precise focus control much more difficult than direct focusing on the Sony 90mm 2.8G.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Extremely sharp, heavy

Received the lens about a week after it was released. Very densely built. There is nothing to complain about in terms of optical quality. The autofocus motor is pretty fast, but when you focus from infinity to the closest autofocus, you can hear the autofocus motor whine a bit. The AF is also not crucial in low light conditions, but good in normal lighting. Note: Another reviewer here said that the aperture can only be adjusted in the lens. That is not true. He forgot to turn the aperture all…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
