Disgusting product: keeps throwing away hard drives

This product has been a nightmare for my workflow. I bought this to adapt my USB hard drives to my new 2018 Apple Macbook Pro which only occupies 3 Thunderbolt 3 ports. My hard drives eject at the slightest impact of the laptop, and sometimes for no reason. Big headache when I upload something, export something or just edit a video from my hard drive. Idiot design: Computers and accessories

Obviously I didn't think of using this cover on my computer. On the left, the adapter is just under a quarter of an inch longer than needed for use without removing the case. on the right side the adapter is also a bit longer. The case is a thin, clear, standard Speck plastic case. If you don't want to take your case off every time you use this key I would consider finding another one and checking its length before ordering to make sure it will fit.
