USB 3.1 speed and reliability

I have a 256GB Crucial M600 SSD. I originally installed it in a ZTC case, but found Windows 10 systems have issues ejecting the drive. I also encountered data corruption issues in the ZTC case. That's the main reason I decided to try the Silverstone case. With USB 3.1, you can transfer data at more than 100 Mbit/s and there were no problems with data corruption. This is a much better SSD enclosure in terms of reliability.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options

Simply excellent protective case for building high capacity flash drives using solid state media. At the moment I only use 5 of them with different capacities from 500MB to 2TB, mainly for backing up non-erasable music files, photos and personal belongings on my computer. All 5 work well for their intended purpose, the company is very generous in sending a very useful screwdriver to open and close each case. To me it's well made and not junk, my only recommendation if you want to go down that…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Good price for hard drive accessories

Been using it for a few weeks along with Samsung Evo 860 2TB with MSI GT72 6QD and HP Specter x360 13 (latest version with Whiskey Lake processor). Had no problems with MSI laptop (screenshot provided) but it keeps crashing on HP Specter. I've tried everything I could think of including options in device manager, formatting the drive, power options but the problem persists, installing the latest updates and even reinstalling windows. Haven't tried it on Linux yet. Have tried another case and no

Save money with hard drive cases

If you need an M.2 to USB adapter, save money and buy a cheaper one. It may be rubbish, but it is. After about 3 months of light use, it has completely died. Left it on the shelf for a week and it worked again. Probably the residual charge in some kind of capacitor that eventually discharged. OK. However, I then left it plugged in (idle) overnight and it completely stalled the entire USB bus on the computer it was plugged into. had to reboot the machine to get USB functionality again. Maybe I…
