Great Ultralight Sunshade

I walked this thing 700 miles from Campo, California to Kennedy Meadows south and it worked like magic. However, don't expect to use this thing in the wind or that it won't come loose on a spoke or two if you overuse it. Mine has survived bush clearing, hurricanes and an abundance of cacti. Highly recommend for the desert.

Pros
  • Good Job
Cons
  • Disappear

Perfect for hiking

Bought this umbrella for hiking and was not disappointed when it rained on my last hike. Moderate wind and rain kept me dry and withstood some gusts of wind. It's lightweight and folds compactly, yet occupies a large enough footprint to cover my head and backpack. I usually use a raincoat or poncho, but now I'm completely convinced that this umbrella is the one. It kept me much drier and more comfortable.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Really don't like it, it's ok

So far this is a winner

I've been running around with this umbrella and needed to figure out how to attach it to my backpack. I think I have a good clamp now. Works best with two and one high on the shoulder strap. I've only used it as a sunscreen so far and it's great. You can take off your hat. Doesn't work well on overgrown trails. When folded, it is very small and weighs very little. I put it in my backpack's water bottle pocket since I use a hydration bladder. The umbrella will be an integral part of my backpack.

Too weak for use in ANY wind

Developed in theory but not functional in practice. The double sided gussets on the arms help fold the umbrella into a nice compact shape for easy packing, but the light weight of the material means it's a bit delicate/fragile and will within 2 minutes of use in relatively light winds the pliers were broken. immediately turn around and fall on me. The second time, one of the pliers broke in half rendering the entire umbrella unusable because I had to pack it up otherwise the torn edge of the…

  • Ideal for outdoor activities

  • Poorly thought out

Used to be my favorite until they sent me a fake!

2021: BEWARE OF COUNTERFEITING. I bought a second one and the device they sent me is too different from the original - it's fake! There is no six moon logo on the umbrella, the labels say it's made in China and the material is transparent/very thin - not the quality of the original umbrella I have! 2020: My favorite gear, whether it's a day trip or a multi-day hike in the mountains or the desert! I got a nosebleed from overheating on the open trail with a hat on the first mile of our 6 day…

Pros
  • I look forward to
Cons
  • The list will be long.
