I thought it was overkill to buy but it's actually very useful. It's best if your child can tilt their head back, but my child isn't always cooperative and I still find it helpful. I still get tears in my eyes at times, but overall it's a lot easier to use than a plastic cup and it's nice that it stands on its own.
