Swanson SVV150 9 Inch Savage T Bevel: Precision and Versatility for Accurate Angled Measurements Review

After reading some previous reviews this tool was good (may slip, locking mechanism doesn't feel like loops etc.). The new model is more or less rubbish.

if your main job is to keep the angle and if not then it's a failure. This item doesn't close well so I sent it back. Look elsewhere, it's cheap for a reason and I had to find out the hard way.

This tool has a socket lock. It is very easy to adjust and fix the angle exactly where you want. This is much better than the traditional design where the flat knurled handle located at the interface is difficult to grip and tighten securely.

This is the second item that I have bought. I chose it based on previous frustrations with sliding T-Bevels with wing nuts etc for the locking mechanism location. Given the convenient location of the locking mechanism, I was very pleased with the tool's usefulness.

I bought one of these thinking it was normal Swanson quality. It's not like this. I couldn't even measure a corner without it breaking. Also, it didn't work right in front of my company owner, making me look like an idiot. Super disappointed. Sent it back for a full refund and bought it for $6 at a local True Value store, which works like a charm.

I really like it, I've read a lot of reviews about the handle not being firm enough and I'm pretty sure I thought the same but I have to say , once you put it in. If you make an effort to tighten it, you really have to make an effort to move that blade. I mean you sure can, and if you pump it you lose a level, but it's tight enough to use in a workshop if you're careful enough.

The idea of getting the clamp out of the way of the material is great, but this tool didn't live up to my expectations. The blade I received would not tighten with the latch. After applying more force than required, the thread lock on the metal handle failed. Now the tool can no longer be manipulated. I bought an Empire Bevel Square with a traditional wing nut to replace that bad angle. I do not recommend this Swanson tool.

The stainless steel blade and aluminum body are great for the salty environment here in South Florida. BUT the blade locking screw really needs to be rethought. The knurled end is too damn small to be able to lever the lock tight enough to keep the blade from moving. the lightest pressure and the setting is lost. It really sucks when you go up and down stairs replacing headlights. I really wanted to like this tool. Come on, Mr. Swanson, please come up with a makeover of the castle!

This is a horrible copy of a tool I've had for years but recently lost. It has the same aluminum body and orange plastic cheeks. The difference is that the threads on the pull rod are poorly cut, squeak and squeak when turned - and it doesn't have the same range of adjustment as the original.
