Follow up. I changed the cage to access custom buttons. a7rIII

I found I couldn't reach the two non-standard buttons on the curtain, so I started the band saw and cut the metal at that point. Still very solid and the camera is held in place well with a tiny screw on the right side and a bottom screw. Now I have easy access to custom buttons. Here are the images I cropped out.

Start setup Sony A7iii

All the research I did to build a setup around my Sony A7iii led me to this cage from Smallrig. There's a good reason for that. It offers many mounting options for other accessories (monitor, microphone, lights, etc.) and Smallrig has many specific mounts for these things. I had to add grips (Niceyrig that fit perfectly) on each side for a better and smoother grip.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Might choose a newer model

I had the same issue as the other reviewer with the camera body hanging in the cage. does not move? I moved the camera body forward so it fits snugly against the front of the cage. Tightened the single screw (the real problem) as tight as possible and after 2 weeks she was moving out of the cage. What is the magic way to install the camera body? Don't stand in the way of any of the uncomfortable doors on the A73.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Some bugs
