📷 SmallRig BMPCC 4K/6K Half Cage: Enhanced Compatibility with Anti-Twist Mechanism and Built-in NATO Rails (CVB2254B) Review

I bought half a cage instead of a full one because I was concerned about gap and balance issues with the Ronin S. I installed a pair of cold shoes for my wireless microphones. I think the cage gives the camera a little more protection and doesn't add much weight.

I purposely went for the half cage as I thought the full cage would make it a bit awkward to get to the buttons on the right side. That's all I need and it works as it should. The small setup was a great affordable quality option for cages etc.

I bought this to fit my BMPCC4K on Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab without the need for an offset plate. This gives me some protection, attachment points and allows me to upgrade to a gimbal without having to completely remove the gimbal, saving me valuable time in the field. Excellent build quality and very useful.

Works and fits perfectly, got a half format for my B camera which is on a gimbal. With the cage, no adapter plate is required to move the BMPCC4k. There are many holes on the bottom for lateral movement of the camera, leaving room for balance. It's tough and durable as you'd expect and fits the camera like a glove.

This half cage is great and works very well for Pocket 4K (I have 4K). The only issue I've encountered is that it makes balancing the BMPCC 4K a bit difficult when used on the Ronin S. The weight is mostly distributed on the left side of the camera when you add the cage. This isn't really an issue with a half cage, but something to consider if you're buying one and planning to use it on the DJI Ronin S. Adding accessories can make balancing easier. What I like: It's bloody cheap compared to 8Sinn or Tilta, the two main players with the best cages I think. It's modular, to the point. You can add junk all day long. I have a Samsung T5 SSD holder, NATO handle and Metabone mounts for this thing. You are all great. You can't make it a full cage, but oh well. I find the full cage too large and unwieldy for most medium to small sized hands, with not enough attachment points on the driving side to justify its use. It's dense and light…

I like Smallrig products but this one didn't work. The camera rotates slightly as seen in my video. The dowel pins below sit on a separate piece of metal with a screw that has too much play. This one goes back. The rest of the cell is good. It's a solid piece of metal with plenty of threaded mounting holes and a NATO rail on top.
