These are quality clasps but they are short. If you're trying to use them as a clasp for something thicker than a finger, you'll need to chain them together. They're easy to chain together, but I'd recommend getting 12" clasps for their versatility. It is better to cut a clasp that is too long than to chain together several short clasps.

So I've been buying expensive heavy duty 10" cable ties at big hardware stores for years. The cheap ones at the dollar store are so brittle that they will snap if you try to close them, assuming they close. I use zip ties to attach my Christmas garlands to a tree, vines to a trellis, hanging flowers to a fence, small flags to my lamp post, etc... tying nothing but cords. 10" is always too long and I've broken a lot of scissors cutting the tails. It never occurred to me to just get shorter zip…
