Great for budget travelers

EX3 cards can be very expensive. So when our production team needed to find a way to afford multiple memory cards for an upcoming shoot, we turned to the Sonnet SDHC memory card adapter. Being able to buy SDHC cards instead of EX3 cards saves us a lot of money ($60 - SDHC vs $350 - EX3). We tested the cards and workflow before filming and found no significant differences between EX3 or SDHC cards. .

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Good but not great

That does not work. fits computers and accessories

My card is not working. I've tried it with different camera brands and models and they all say it's not recognized. At first I thought I was using the wrong SD card, but I got a different adapter and the SD card was fine. Externally there is no damage, it just doesn't work. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

No problems, works as it should.

Although it says "SDHC" it works fine with SDXC cards larger than 32GB. I've had one of these on two pro shoots with an extra one as a backup and they've worked flawlessly so far. Using a 128GB card and a Sony PMW-F3 all I have to do is format the card and bam I have room for 320 continuous minutes of S-Log 4.2.0 footage for 1/10th the price of a 128GB -SxS card. While SxS cards are better for long-term reliability, I wouldn't worry about short-term reliability as long as you use good quality…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Sad hardware

Money Saving SD Cards

We spent a fortune on SxS cards for the Sony EX-3 College. Seeing this made me cautiously optimistic that it might be a way to save money on storage. I tried it out in my video production class this week and it was amazing. I used a 32GB Transcend Class 10 SDHC flash memory card (TS32GSDHC10E) and it worked flawlessly. The camera recognized it as an SxS card and we shot lots of videos with no problem. This is a great alternative to the very expensive Sony SxS cards.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Almost Everything is Available

Sonnet SXS SDHC adapter

I have a Sony EX-1 camera and need 64 GB recording capacity. A regular SXS card wasn't economical and I needed to be able to record long videos (like lectures etc. lasting 2 hours or more without cropping). I received it with a 64GB Transcend Class 10 SDHC card. and it works GREAT. I have not lost a single image in several projects. I'm going to get another one so I can record lectures all day without switching cards in the camera!

Good solution for SxS media costs

I've been buying these for a network TV broadcaster in one of the top 30 markets and have been using them since we switched to a file-based field service workflow almost two years ago . These adapters have saved us thousands and thousands of dollars over SxS multimedia cards. We use them with high-quality SanDisk SDHC cards and they work very reliably with our Sony PMW-350 cameras and EX-30 decks. We tested several standard SDHC to ExpressCard adapters and none of them worked with cameras or…
