Works great, good value for money, much better than Sony $$

Reluctant to buy due to so many confusing negative reviews. Compared to a well-known brand, especially one recommended by my particular camera makers, the price is worth it. Works great with my Sony NEX-5T. I was also able to get it "as new" through the warehouse and couldn't figure out what "minor defect" was referred to.

Pros
  • Minimum focus distance: 0.95m; Maximum magnification: 0.29x
Cons
  • I will add later

A quality lens for me.

I bought this item last Saturday and used it for the first time watching an airplane do all sorts of maneuvers. I had a new camera and had to adjust to it, but the zoom capabilities are excellent. The plane was flying about 150 meters away from me and I could see all the details of the plane pretty clearly as it tilted its right wing toward the crowd. No haze or blurry image or image noise.

Pros
  • Smooth and Quiet AF with Built-in Motor (SAM)
Cons
  • Can I add something?

In the old 35mm days I had a 50-135mm lens. I got this new Sony 18-55 camera and I felt completely lost without a telephoto lens like the old days. I got this for Christmas and it's wonderful. I can pull back and get 3 or 4 people together for a group shot and get close for individual portrait shots without getting too close. I recommend this to anyone serious about photography, especially people.

Pros
  • Small lightweight telephoto zoom lens. Circular Aperture
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great Sony A-mount lens

I'm having a hard time finding Alpha A-mount lenses for my Sony SLT A55 camera. Sony is now moving towards mirrorless cameras, which are thinner and use a different E-mount lens but still use the Alpha designation. This is an excellent mid-telephoto zoom lens. I found it to focus quickly, be very sharp and have minimal chromatic distortion. It uses the same 55mm filter as my other lenses. The lens is lightweight yet durable. I personally didn't find it "plastic" like others have said. This only

Pros
  • 35mm equivalent; 82.5-300mm
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Best I have ever used, great product for anyone!

Used lens was purchased for 6.5 thousand in excellent condition - lucky. The crisis price for a new one somehow bites a lot. Photos are pleasing, it is convenient to shoot birds and so on. Practically no chromate at the far end, and in general these are trifles. It’s a bit dark, but in the daytime it’s imperceptible, and since you can’t shoot like this in the rooms (in general, it’s not intended for this), and at night it’s not needed, you can’t write it down as a minus. The purchase is very…

Pros
  • very good picture, light, good assembly, although DT, when shooting portraits, it blurs the background beautifully.
Cons
  • price, generally smart focus, but sometimes it focuses rather slowly and fails at the wrong moment
