Haven't played a single cassette without eating the cassette.

I bought this camera used and it ate up all the cassettes I put in it (an old Kodak, two new Maxells). Luckily I tried a cleaning cassette and two blank cassettes before trusting this camera with my old family films. I may have just caught a lemon, but I won't be buying this model again to find out.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Ideal for transferring cassettes to DVD.

We have not used this camcorder for video recordings, hence 4 instead of 5 stars. However, we used it to transfer videos from old cassettes to DVD. We used to have the same video camera, but it didn't work anymore. Paying someone to transfer our old tapes to DVDs was very expensive, so buying another Handycam to do the transfer yourself was the more economical option. It's perfect for that purpose so we're very glad we bought it.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Without automatic

The camera works like new. Seller

Works great. I had my doubts when I ordered it as it is a very old model. The camera works like new. The UPBEAT ELECTRONICS dealer even provided me with the AV cable I needed to connect to my Elgato video capture device. This was not a requirement for a camera, but UPBEAT ELECTRONICS delivered it quickly. I've converted several 25 year old 8mm tapes to digital using this and an Elgato video capture device and they worked great together. I first used the DigitNow video converter and it failed…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very Expensive
