My rating is based on use of this DVD player by young children (2-5 years). This is my third DVD player for my 3 year old son. Why? you ask, well, you gotta see it that way. Each has its own purpose. I have a 10" JVC for my truck rides, a 6" Phillips from Wall Mart for casual dining, and now I have this Sony for the foldable screen. I spent weeks looking for portable DVD players before I finally bought this one. My general takeaways from my research are: 1) no player seems loud enough when used without headphones, 2) less expensive players don't seem to stand the test of time, 3) most battery lives are around 2.5 -3. hrs. Overall I am happy with this Sony DVD player. nice looks too, i appreciate the material it is wrapped in. inch screen. acceptable level. Finally, all of the function keys (play, stop, rewind, ff, pause, etc.) are located just below the screen itself, and these keys are unusually small.
