Washing the beard is normal, but very watery. It's not something you can pump up with your fingers to apply to your beard; it's too watery and rolls right off your fingers. You have to shape your hands to pump/transfer the cleanser into your beard and even then it will be watery enough to drip off your hands. Well, let me tell you, this is no useless nonsense, this is the real thing, my beard is thicker, cleaner, healthier and most importantly, it smells good. As a bearded man looking to groom his beard, I decided I had to try a beard shampoo. I did extensive research on many different types and finally decided to try the Spartan. The scent is very subtle and suits me. The shampoo itself lathers well and you really don't need to use much to cover your beard. To be honest I would give 5 stars if there wasn't one thing. The picture clearly shows the pump which inspired me to use it in the shower. However, when I received mine, it only had an open roof.

This beard shampoo used to be great. Was earlier. I was more than satisfied with my first purchase about six months ago. The mixture was less gel-like, lathered great, oil content and smell were fantastic. For this last order a month ago, the ingredients have changed. As someone who makes my own beard oil and balm, I love trying other products to see how they work with my homemade products. Spartans Den seems to be doing a pretty good job. It cleans my beard and seems to help with beard itchiness and dandruff. I'm not sure about stimulating beard growth as I haven't noticed any noticeable change at the moment and unfortunately softening my beard doesn't help as I've found that I've had to put more oil on my beard than usual helps keep it soft on the days I…

After using the product about halfway, the smell has changed. Whatever the reason, it smelled more like household cleaners than shampoo. Although Spartans Den has contact information on the bottle and questions about their product, they have chosen not to respond to my inquiries. I asked if their product had an expiration date as there was no date of birth or expiration on the bottle. I was disappointed with the Spartan Den Beard Linen. Expectations were high because I love their classic scented beard oil.
