Major components are missing

Ordered 2 gimbals. Seemed like a good deal but both were missing a grease fitting and one was missing a complete end cap with needle bearings. Absolutely useless. By the way, they weren't wrapped in plastic or paper in the box, which I expected. I have to pay shipping to get a refund and sending a replacement was not an option for me.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Long delivery time

4wd or AWD and heavy usage Reading

I am very upset about this. Spicer offers cross hole gimbals for my AWD application. I'm a dealer technician. And used to replace equivalent OEM parts. I read many posts on google. Everyone says use only non-crossed perforated U-joints for 4WD - AWD - and heavy duty. Buyer Warning. Don't make the same mistake I did. 05 All-wheel drive Hemi Durango. Now I have $60 paper scales in my tool box.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • weak

I was looking for these Spicer 5-135X gimbals as I found Spicer to be more reliable than other brands driveshaft of my jeep. My jeep usually breaks a U-link or two a year. Spicers - if I can find them - the last 2 years. I have a fairly extreme steering angle as my Jeep Wrangler YJ is 7 inches over stock so expect possible breakage but Spicers fit best.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Doesn't work for everyone

Perfect fit (almost), smooth ride

Perfect for replacing the U-joints in my 2003 Xterra. Installation wasn't too difficult with this press (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D9D8M9H/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I made the mistake of installing a grease fitting on the drive shaft before installing the gimbal, which I accidentally snapped off while struggling to install the gimbal. My only complaint is that the needle bearings are a bit loosely packed in the caps, which can cause them to slip slightly whenโ€ฆ

Fits my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (front to axle)

Side of transfer case. The Spicer 5-153X U-joint was replaced with no problems and came with new locking rings. Before replacing the covers, fill them with enough NLGI-2 grease to hold your needle bearings in place and not fall out. When installing, make sure you place the Zerk towards the driveshaft side and not the fork side as maintenance will be much easier. Be sure to clean the snap ring grooves and ensure they are fully seated.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small house

  • Repair

Fits XJ '95 Rear Driveshaft Driveshaft Replacement

1995 Cherokee (XJ) with a rear driveshaft, factory driveshaft requires a replacement driveshaft at the pivot on the differential side. The original hasn't been oiled, it is. I don't recommend using a plug, instead using a flush mount that requires the installation of a needle-tipped grease gun. If you're spinning heavily, you might also want to consider a lifetime gimbal that doesn't need greasing, rather than a DD XJ gimbal, which is more convenient. The original driveshaft had 400,000 milesโ€ฆ

Worked for my dad's needs

Recently my dad and I went gremlin hunting on his 1968 Camaro Z/28 and among the many repairs we did was replacing the universal joint shaft . For some reason none of the nearby car dealerships had the cross braces my dad needed, so he made me order them. First, I should mention that the machine features a standard street rod setup. 350 CID engine mated to a Muncie M20 4 speed gearbox leading to a standard limited slip rear differential. Nothing out of the ordinary here. These universal jointsโ€ฆ
