When activated, it is very effective. It is also a very durable collar. However, one that snaps in the back is a bit easier to put on and take off and is quite heavy for my 80 lb dog's neck. But overall a good buy.

After learning how to use this exerciser properly, I bought it and found that my puppy has changed completely. She weighs 80 pounds but she dragged me across the yard and I weigh 240 pounds. It was not safe to walk her and impossible to train her in any other way. Again, you'll need to learn how to do it right, but it's well built!

We fought our lab pup because although he's still a pup he's very strong and very big. I was worried because it looked like some sort of medieval torture device, but it got great reviews. I have to admit, this thing worked like a champ! In fact, we can take our lab for a walk without tiring it and ourselves. It really works and works great!

The collar is great for training but incredibly difficult to adjust, open and close. I'm a healthy adult and I can do it but it hurts my hands and it's often a 5-10 minute struggle. Very frustrating and a violation of the terms of my book. It's a shame I didn't send it back as soon as possible because I was wrong in my notion that it might get easier with practice. After a month of frustration I am now looking for a similar collar with a smarter clasp.

The thickness of this collar is a bit exaggerated. I bought my adult Rottie for training, measured carefully, read the sizing instructions on the company website and it was still too tight. There should be some play in the fit but it was very tight and very heavy, bulky and impossible to use as intended. I think it's better for people to go to a trainer to get in shape. It is an important and often misused teaching tool.

I got this collar for my 120 lb Mastiff mix. It works very well in execution. HOWEVER, opening and closing links is next to impossible. I'm 6'2", I have big, strong hands and it's almost impossible to squeeze the link to open and close the collar. I have a 95lb Doberman who is doing pretty well. He walks on a loose leash when nothing is happening, but when excited he pulls quite hard. After getting this I watched two youtube videos from solidk9training (have watched others but his was the best) and holy moly just a wave of the hand to communicate with your dog in this collar and what a nice structured walk! Perfect fit for my dog, he gets out of control and is difficult to manage basically next to other dogs and since I'm pregnant I didn't want to walk him because I'm not in the best position to control an overly excited dog. but still i want to walk him more but i needed this collar because i was afraid that he would drag me in concrete. Thanks to this training collar he doesn't try to pull me anymore anyway, now he cools down and looks at me to find the way and now we can both walk several times
