🔪 STANLEY 1992 Classic Utility Knife Blades - Heavy Duty 100-Pack (11-921A) Review

I compared these blades with my Stanley blades. These new blades are a bit thinner than the old ones and don't match my grip well. See picture for comparison.

The blade is too thick for the intended use but that is not the fault of the seller or even the manufacturer. However, these blades cannot hold sharpening. Used for a few days, and by "used" I mean minimal chores like cutting tape to open boxes (not box itself), opening some envelopes, cutting plastic wrap. you have the idea It's already boring. The return window closed while my original blade (not from this box or manufacturer) was still fresh. I have at least 50 of these.

over the years i have spent a lot of time with everyday knives. I bought cheap blades and I bought expensive blades. I find Stanley blades to be some of the best utility knife blades out there. I've used them on cardboard, carpet, rubber and many other construction and retail applications over the years. Cheap blades always need to be replaced and expensive blades just don't seem to last much longer. A pack of 50 or 100 lasts a long time and I get the best value for my blades.

Still made in the USA, these Stanley utility knives haven't changed in 20 years. To remove the blades, press the bottom of the case and slide the blade to the right or left. If you continue to use the blades, press the bottom to eject the blades during use. The blades are coated with protective oil to keep them from rusting over time. The old blades that I kept are 0.62mm thick and the new blades are 0.62mm thick so this is a product that hasn't changed.

I bought this after buying (and returning) two others. The Stanley Blade Container is far superior to the gimmick style of others; it works and is easy to use. I'm not sure if Stanley invented the utility knife, but they've definitely been making it for decades. Their tools are generally well designed and built, and these blades are no exception. High quality blades, lightly oiled (but not dripping), packaged in a reusable dispenser that can be placed on a shelf or hung on a hook. They are made in the USA. I got 50 blades for about $5 so I think it's a very good deal. They do what they're supposed to and I really can't make a fair comparison to others I've used because it all depends on what I'm cutting and how much pressure I'm applying. I've used number VCT floor tile and coved vinyl and have found that they last longer if I notch the material a few times rather than trying to cut through on the first pass.
