Full size glue sticks that really work on glass and ceramic surfaces.

We tried 6 brands of .47 inch glue sticks in an old school "Parker" 40 watt hot glue gun. Most new solid-state pistols have initial starting power (heat); but if the operating temperature is sufficiently high, do not keep warm for more than 10-15 minutes. We tried gluing smooth glass, smooth ceramic surfaces and metals: these were the only glue sticks that really stuck to these surfaces without having to scratch or solvent clean the glass first! Parker is out of business and so are his glueโ€ฆ

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons

Best all-purpose glue stick

Was looking for a hot glue system for finishing wood (and just about everything else). The review showed that the Stanley rod was the best overall for my hot glue gun (400 degrees). Believe me, it can also be used in low temperature guns, but the results may not be as good. Long sticks are great because you don't have to reload the gun as often. I have used for some corner joints on oak and MDF surfaces. You should work a lot faster than with wood glue, but you don't have to pinch, just pressโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Limited lifetime warranty
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Excellent glue for gift wrapping and other crafts

I mainly use this glue for gift wrapping during the holidays. I like to use matte brown wrapping paper with no visible tape; crazy glue and similar cyanoacrylates tend to soak into the paper, and other gel glues take too long to cure, but hot glue is ideal. I didn't specifically choose them for some reason, they just fit my hot glue gun, but I've now bought two packs of 12 because they work so well. I just make the folds, apply a line of glue and hold the paper in place for 30 seconds. Adheresโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Standard 0.45 inch glue sticks for 4 inch and 10 inch glue guns
Cons
  • High price

The best damn glue stick I've ever used!

I use these with a DeWalt glue gun and have had fantastic success. I generally use them to make/glue custom shipping boxes. The gluing is always very good if you put some pressure on the cardboard within 5-10 seconds after gluing. The hot glue will hold long enough to seal the pouches and glue the flaps. Bigger/longer poles make life easier. I'll say one thing: if you're using a gun that uses friction feed, you'll probably want to wash each wand with soap and water before using it. in the gunโ€ฆ

Pros
  • hot glue sticks are designed for use in standard hot glue, low temperature and dual temperature glue guns.
Cons
  • Unsure.
