Works after a few high temp issues.

Rated 4 stars because there were 2 problems with high temperature operation and the coolant needed topping up. I don't know what happened or if it was involved

Pros
  • Piston diameter 25% larger for 1 1/2 performance of standard thermostats.
Cons
  • It's OK

didn't work out of the box!

My car overheats right after installing this thermostat on my Honda Civic. Shortly thereafter I went into the auto zone and installed the Duralast thermostat. the car runs fine now.

Pros
  • Uses venturi for maximum cooling performance at high temperature and high load.
Cons
  • Neutral

Different from OE but functional.

This thermostat is slightly different than the OEM unit it replaced in my 2001 Honda CR-V. It looks less durable to say the least, the check valve is made entirely differently and the original has rubber seals which are not present in this version. Fit and function is fine though, and as we won't be keeping this car much longer I'm not worried, but if I plan on driving another 177,000 miles I would buy an OEM or OEM equivalent from Consumer Market. I've used Stant products in the past and…

Pros
  • Mirror polished stainless steel flange for stress relief and increased corrosion resistance.
Cons
  • Operating Speed
