Star Brite No Damp Dehumidifier & Moisture Absorber: Combat Humidity & Prevent Mold! Review

I have a gun safe in my house so I thought they were ok but bought these to be on the safe side. I was shocked when my son came after 3 months and showed me the water that has pooled at the bottom of this tub. Wow! Of course I'm glad I got it.

They've done their job so far. We bought these to use on our boat to prevent mold on the seats. I would say they are disposable as the baskets are difficult to remove once filled with water. For the price, availability is not a disadvantage. They have been on our boat for about 2 months and are not yet completely filled.

I had high hopes for this product. I also bought another brand that I usually use and decided to see which one worked better. After 2 weeks, Star Brite has 0 moisture in the container. After 3 days, another brand will be 1/4 filled. I gave it 2 stars because it's made in America and I love it. I don't want to name other brands but it is very well known for this type of products.

This product does not work at all. We wanted to use it in a very small area (kitchen cupboard) in a humid house (half a mile from the ocean with little weather protection on windows and around doors). It did nothing to turn the salt into a brick in 3 weeks. The top of the pile of pellets crusted over within 2 days. I'm sure this product will be useful in certain conditions, but not the ones we need it for.

I bought this for our retractable trailer. The downside to pop ups is that when camping in the rain, packing up and the ends of the tent are still wet, you stack them wet in the trailer and risk mold and the like. Got this to help with this issue and so far so good after a rainy weekend. I open the trailer up after it rains to let the sun work its magic but it probably won't get it all and that seems to help. We also live in Southern California and it only rains once every 5 years.
