Works most of the time

I connected a KDLinks USB 3 adapter to this thing and it works in the other room my HTPC is in, so I have USB ports on my couch/coffee table. I use it to play through my TV and then turn everything off when I'm not using it. The wife is happy. The only problem I have is that sometimes my hub doesn't recognize anything. Even if I unplug the hub and plug the cable directly in it's the same thing, so I unplug the cable from the computer and plug it back in. Fixes immediately. I only use this cable

Pros
  • EXTENDS YOUR CONNECTION: The active USB 3.0 extension cable offers one USB-A (male) and one USB-A (female) connector and actively extends USB 3.0 devices up to 10 meters.
Cons
  • Almost OK

Obsolete after 1 month, suitable for cables and connectors

I got this to use with a Vive VR headset. This worked initially, although it took a random amount of time (maybe up to 10 minutes) for the computer to recognize the headset after turning the headset on. . That was a bad sign of his fitness for service. A month later, when the cable didn't move at all, he died completely. I've tested it with simpler things like a flash drive and turned it on, so it's not a problem, and yes it's utter nonsense. Huge waste of money.

Pros
  • EXCEEDS STANDARD REQUIREMENTS: This USB 3.0 active extension cable incorporates active bus-powered circuitry to deliver performance that exceeds the length limitations of standard USB cables.
Cons
  • Not bad

Mainly good for computer accessories and peripherals

This was a good way to access my desktop, which is about 20 feet from the room where the rest of my setup is located. However, it is not ideal. With things like my headset and mouse/keyboard in particular, I encountered a number of issues when attempting to use this cable (strange audio artifacts in the headset, mouse and keyboard randomly losing connection). I ended up having to use an optical cable, which solved all of these problems, but this cable still works for most things, so I currently

Pros
  • FAST AND RELIABLE: The USB 3.0 extension cable (USB Extender) supports USB 3.0 high-speed data transmission up to 5 Gbit/s.
Cons
  • Keep Calm

SSD and HDD expansion solution!

I had problems with external SSD and external HDD. I blamed the storage devices, but both problems were actually caused by the cheap USB extenders I plugged into the hubs. I thought the cables were ok because other peripherals like the webcam worked fine. I did a little research and found that active cables are needed in excess of 3 meters (9 feet) to maintain a digital signal. I bought these cables instead and they work great with both HDDs and SSDs. If you need to connect your storage via a…
