High quality, heavy duty 14 AWG extension cord

High quality heavy duty cord. (Ignore the faint photo.) The wires in the cable are actually 14 AWG as described. I know for sure because I cut off one end to use the cable for a high power device. In addition, each wire is well insulated and the outer part of the cable is also thick. If you need a durable 6ft extension this is a good option at a good price.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Very expensive

Not everyone wants to put a PC next to an extension cord

I was building a new PC and found that the PSU manufacturer's standard wall cord was about 1m long and I wanted to put the PC about 6ft away from it. Renewal. Sigh. It was a little pricey (I had the 14 gauge version) but it's long enough for my purposes and I can leave the extender on my desk with its mess of cords and keys.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • Needs an outlet

Double check your wires - 18 AWG in a 14 AWG shell 3 of 4 counts

Ordered 4 of these and 3 of 4 were 18 AWG. Only 1 was 14AWG. Check the markings on the cable itself to make sure it's the real 14AWG (which is also easy to tell by the thickness, 14 is a lot thicker than 18). I've just received a replacement for 1 of the 3 I returned and again I have the 18AWG wire in it. Two more are still on the way. I am now returning all subsequent incorrect cables and buying the Tripp Lite version hopefully getting what I pay for.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Problems

Don't treat all computer power cords as interchangeable

I've always considered power cords with these plugs to be interchangeable between PC power supplies, monitors, etc. Power. The cable I used starts smelling, then smokes and hangs down like wet noodles. Obviously he used a wire that was too thin. The cord was likely bundled with a monitor rated for a relatively small amount of electrical current. In any case, it was a wake-up call. I ordered some of these thicker power cords (14 AWG is thicker than 16 or 18 AWG) to replace the thinner ones usedโ€ฆ
