This is a good addition to an active splitter. The only limitation is that the same resolution is output on both outputs. So if you have a monitor that doesn't support the same resolution as output 1, it will not show up on output 2.

I didn't pay enough attention when ordering, the main design flaw of this product is that it has a fixed input cable. Good for connecting to a graphics card on a PC, but bad for connecting something like a Firestick or Chromecast. It was necessary to make and include a very short HDMI cable so that it could be connected to the device separately. This allows consumers more flexibility in choosing cable length and input source.

Works fine for me. I needed a way to output to two TVs from my satellite receiver and it worked perfectly. I used the USB socket on the receiver for the power supply and connected an additional HDMI cable to the second television. Very easy.
