I bought this cable mainly to use my second iMac as an extended monitor. After doing some research and finding out why the cable was NOT working. Any iMac after 2015 does not support this feature.

Perfect for connecting my Macbook (mid 2014) to my old iMac at work (model 11.3). I haven't had any problems with plug loss or anything like that and have been using it for about a month?

Looks and connects exactly like the OEM cable, but my Mac doesn't recognize the device when using the StarTech cable, but no problem when using the OEM cable. I should have paid more for a working cable.

I bought this cable specifically to connect my old iMac as a second monitor and it worked perfectly. I've used quite a few StarTech products over the years and they generally offer excellent value for money.

Quality is good and expected to last longer than average. The price is affordable and the quality seems good. I use it to connect 2 iMacs and can switch one of them as a monitor for the other. So this is a great feature to get out of two commonly used iMacs.

It worked great to connect Macbook Pro 15 Retina 2014 to Dell 2715Q. I got 4K 60Hz with no adjustments or optimizations. Given that many reviewers had trouble getting 4K resolution from the same MBP model, I'm happy with this purchase. The cable is fairly flexible, which is important for a 3 foot cable. Surprisingly, the number of options for a mini DP to mini DP cable is really small, but this one worked fine for me, so I can't complain.
