TAA compliant drive copier and duplicator supports 2.5in/3.5in SATA and SAS drives to provide a versatile and cost-effective drive management solution, ideal for enterprise storage and data center applications. High speed drive duplication lets you clone SATA or SAS drives 1:1 at speeds of up to 13 GB per minute with four duplication modes including System and File, All Partitions, Sector-by-Sector (Whole Drive), and Percentage Copy. Six erase modes including 3-Pass Overwrite (DoD) and 7-Pass Overwrite ensure data is securely erased and meets DoD (5220.22-M) standards and NIST 800-88 criteria. If you are a techie who needs to copy or erase HD on a regular basis, this is a great tool and value. The only limitation is the impossibility of copying from a larger disk to a smaller one.

looks like an advertisement, can't copy File and Contents mode from a large disk to a small one. Example: An 8TB hard drive contains 4TB of data that cannot be copied to a 6TB hard drive.

Device works well. Made copies of hard drives on two of my Windows 7 computers. Quick and copies were identical to the original drives. Definitely recommend.

If you want to backup your hard drive quickly.

If you want to backup your hard drive quickly, this machine can FAST image or duplicate your hard drive to another hard drive of the same size or larger. Did I mention it's fast? If you use Samsung EVO 750 less than 15 minutes. SSD for backup media, it can backup 50GB in less than 15 minutes.

Very Fast Copier

This is the fastest SATA to SATA copier I have ever used and it works very well. Although it loses a star in my opinion because it has problems with some Windows 10 partitions and I still haven't figured out what the similarities are. It often reports BAD MASTER HDD when I try to clone certain Windows 10 HDD or SSD. When I use my carry-on duplicate (probably twice as slow as Startech's), it works with Startech's. There is a problem. That minor issue aside, I'd recommend this Startech to anyoneโ€ฆ

Good news / bad news Product

Please do not think that I am criticizing this product, I am not. It's well made and easy to use, but it has limitations for my use. Not being an electrical engineer, I didn't try to diagnose the problem I was having. I haven't contacted tech support either, as it's a sealed, standalone system with almost nothing that can be done. Background: I bought this product to create an image copy of my NAS backup drive for external storage. The time required to copy the image must be less than 24 hoursโ€ฆ

Not suitable for cleaning large quantities of discs. There is no documentation. Unstable performance.

I received this unit 3 days ago and have been actively testing it. I bought it to erase several hundred SATA and SAS drives. I bought a $1000 version that works with SAS drives (server drives) in addition to regular drives. Here are the problems I ran into right away: #1. Extremely limited documentation. The "manual" that comes with this $1,000 device is 1 page long, double sided and doesn't explain anything about how the different cleaning modes work. For example. What is "Full Erase"? or what
